Student Residence
We're preparing to build a university student residence at Aldridge
Aldridge currently operates from a small house in Auchenflower but will soon be moving (circa mid-2026) to a larger site located at 39 Lucinda Street, Taringa, which has been undergoing substantial renovatations since 2025.
This new, larger site gives us the ability to eventually expand the centre to include rooms to accomodate university students. The site is conveniently located close to the Taringa Train Station and several bus stops, which provide excellent connectivity to Brisbane's universities.
Stage 1 Renovations: The Study Centre (2025-2026)
Stage 1 renovations are currently underway at the new site. The works are focussed on developing the existing residential structure to accomodate the principal requirements of the study centre and provide a much bigger venue than the current site at Auchenflower. This includes:
-
a larger Oratory
-
several multi-purpose activity spaces
-
study rooms
-
5 self-contained bedrooms for staff
The new residence would seek provide a study and activity centre for university students and high school students, plus be able to host activities of spiritual formation for young professionals and older adult men.
Stage 1 of the project still requires further fundraising support. If you can help contribute, please consider making a donation using the details on our Support Us page.
Stage 2 Renovations: The Residence Extension (TBC)
In the near future we would like to begin a small university student residence providing full board accommodation in a truly homely setting.
Good study facilities, a home-like environment and proximity to universities will make it an attractive place to study and to relax. It is envisaged that a wide variety of activities would be organised during the year which complement life at university and help students both to enjoy and get the most out of their time at university.
Similar Projects in Australia
There are similar student residences here in Australia (e.g. Drummond Study Centre in Melbourne) and across the world.
Watch the video below to hear from Anthony, a graduate student in Montreal, Canada, speak how the formation he receives at Riverview Residence, an Opus Dei centre, helps him find God in his studies and friendships.
